At the China-ROK Business Forum in Beijing, Republic of Korea (ROK) President Lee Jae Myung highlighted a new trend among young Koreans: "Going to Shanghai after work on Fridays." Since China introduced visa-free policies for ROK tourists at the end of 2024, the number of visitors has surged, with Shanghai and its neighboring cities becoming top destinations. At the same time, eased visa rules for Chinese tourists visiting the ROK have spurred travel in the opposite direction. The Korean Tourism Organization says more promotional campaigns are planned in the coming months.
