China's strengthened export controls on dual-use items to Japan aim to curb Japan's "remilitarization" and attempts to acquire nuclear weapons, and are fully justified, reasonable and lawful, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

China is committed to maintaining the stability and security of the global industrial and supply chains, and civilian use will not be affected by the export control. Relevant parties that conduct normal civilian trade with China should have no worries, said He Yadong, a spokesperson for the ministry.

On Tuesday, China announced bans on the export of all dual-use items to Japanese military users, for Japan's military use, and for any other end-users and end-use purposes that could help enhance Japan's military capabilities.

The erroneous remarks on Taiwan made by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi infringe upon China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, amounting to blatant interference in China's internal affairs and a military threat against China, the spokesperson said.

He noted that since taking office, Takaichi has pushed for revisions of Japan's three national security documents, and people close to her have made remarks about acquiring nuclear weapons.

Such actions, He emphasized, challenge the bottom line of the international community, exposing Takaichi and Japanese right-wing forces' longstanding erroneous stance and their persistent ambition to advance "remilitarization." These moves, which undermine the post-war international order, will inevitably jeopardize regional peace and stability, and threaten global peace and security, he said.

He added that as a responsible major country, China has always actively fulfilled its international non-proliferation obligations and the export control is in accordance with laws and regulations.
