The Guangdong Southern Tigers defeated the Shenzhen Leopards 110-105 at home in Dongguan, south China's Guangdong Province, on Wednesday, avoiding a second straight loss.

Trevelin Queen was among the biggest contributors to Guangdong's victory with 30 points, six rebounds, nine assists and four steals. His offensive dominance in the third quarter enabled the hosts to outscore Shenzhen 39-34 as they battled back from one point down, 50-49, at halftime.

Edmond Sumner was virtually unstoppable as well, registering 24 points, five rebounds and eight assists off the bench for the Southern Tigers. The home side built a double-digit advantage in the third quarter, but He Xining and Terquavion Smith kept sinking three-pointers to keep the deficit for the Leopards within single digits.

After the score was tied at 104-104 with less than three minutes to go, Jared Sullinger made two tough jumpers for Guangdong, which also received a clutch floater from Xu Jie. The duo's efforts sealed the deal for the record 11-time champions.

Smith scored a game-high 36 points, but Shenzhen wasn't able to extend its winning streak to three games.

In the night's other contest, the Shanghai Sharks beat the Qingdao Eagles 90-73 on the road for their eighth consecutive win, provisionally returning to the top of the standings.

Shanghai set the tone early for an easy victory, finishing the first quarter with a 33-8 lead. Wang Zhelin made 10 of his 11 field goal attempts, on the way to a season-high 21 points for the Sharks. Brandon Goodwin added 19 points and eight assists.

Joe Young needed 30 shots to score a game-high 31 points for Qingdao, missing 10 of his 14 attempts from outside the three-point line. The Eagles, after suffering a second straight loss, provisionally sit in fourth place.
