The Eastern Section of Hong Kong's East Coast Boardwalk in North Point opened on December 29, completing the final kilometer of the 13-kilometer stretch from Kennedy Town to Shau Kei Wan – a long-held vision for the city's waterfront. This milestone is both a win for urban development and a boost for everyday life and tourism.

Designed as a shared space for walkers, joggers and cyclists, the new section offers fresh experiences, including a glass observatory deck with water views, a pet-friendly zone near Tin Chiu Street, and versatile open spaces for art, exhibitions and community events. A small plaza near Quarry Bay, widened footpaths and a movable bascule bridge enhance accessibility and support nearby marine operations.

For residents, the completed boardwalk expands recreational space and improves quality of life. For visitors, it provides a new way to experience Victoria Harbour – on foot, up close and at their own pace. Planned since 2009, the East Coast Boardwalk reflects Hong Kong's ongoing efforts to create a more livable, people-centered waterfront.
