China's Sun Jiaxu won the men's aerials gold medal at the FIS Freeski World Cup in the Canadian resort of Lac Beauport on Wednesday. His compatriot Li Tianma stood next to him on the podium with silver.

Sun finished third in the first round of the final and then landed a back full-double full-double full in the second, scoring a massive 131.58 points to seal the title.

Li also performed well in the second round, rallying from fourth to second in the standings, after nailing a perfect back double full-double full-full. Another Chinese contender, Qi Guangpu, finished fifth. The bronze went to Swiss skier Noe Roth.

On the women's side, Australia's Laura Peel clinched gold and the USA's Winter Vinecki placed second.

Reigning Olympic champion Xu Mengtao of China recovered from a less-than-ideal showing to come in third with 97.02 points. Xu's compatriots Kong Fanyu and Shao Qi ended up fifth and eighth, respectively.

With the Lac-Beauport stop concluded, the aerialists will cross the border to Lake Placid in the USA, where another double header awaits next Sunday and Monday.
