As temperatures drop across China, migratory birds are arriving right on schedule at wetlands in east China's Zhejiang Province. New visitors include the nationally protected smew, alongside familiar species like tufted ducks and black-faced spoonbills. A combined system of smart monitoring and on-site patrols is helping protect habitats and expand bird records from just over 90 species to 147.
