Some online services in Iran, such as ride-hailing apps, were restored on Saturday morning, though Iranians are still unable to make international long-distance calls, and internet conditions remain limited, Li Jiannan, a CMG reporter, reported from the capital city, Tehran, while using a satellite phone.

The internet in Iran had been disconnected since Thursday evening, Li said, adding that the internet shutdown is primarily due to the ongoing protests.

Citing his friends across Iran, Li said that large-scale protests continue nationwide, and some regions have even witnessed riots of a certain scale.

Iranian government officials and military personnel have repeatedly stated that the protests, which began over economic issues, are a way for the Iranian people to express their demands. However, some of the protests have evolved into riots, allegedly sparked by hidden, U.S.- and Israel-funded rioters in the crowds. The Iranian government has called on the Iranians not to be provoked by these rioters to avoid falling into the enemies' trap, according to Li.

Based on his observation, Li said the supply of living essentials in Tehran is sufficient, and supermarkets are maintaining stable and normal supplies of rice, flour, oil and other essentials.
