China and Tanzania will further enhance cooperation as Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan met with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on Saturday.

Hassan expressed gratitude for China's extensive support to Tanzania's development and China's assistance in helping African countries with their economic and social development under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

While emphasizing that China is a steadfast and reliable partner for Tanzania, sharing both honor and disgrace, Hassan also noted the deep brotherly ties between the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), Tanzania's ruling party, and the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Hassan said Tanzania firmly adheres to the one-China principle and is willing to actively align its development plans with China, deepen pragmatic cooperation, revitalize the Tanzania-Zambia Railway, contribute to regional prosperity, strengthen inter-party exchanges, increase people-to-people exchanges, and promote economic growth in Tanzania, benefiting both nations' peoples.

Hassan added that Tanzania highly appreciates the China-proposed four global initiatives and is willing to closely collaborate with China in multilateral cooperation to promote the establishment of a more just and reasonable international governance system.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said that China and Tanzania are friends with a shared destiny.

Noting the friendship between the two countries has withstood the tests of changing international circumstances, Wang said the friendship remains one of the most valuable spiritual treasures of both China and Tanzania. He added both sides should jointly inherit, promote and continuously give it new relevance in the context of the current era.

China cherishes its relationship with Tanzania, both between the two parties and the two countries, and is willing to work with Tanzania to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, Wang said. He added that the goal is to strengthen governance experience exchanges, deepen practical cooperation, enhance people-to-people exchanges, and promote the continuous development of the China-Tanzania comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Wang emphasized that the essence of China-Tanzania relations is mutual trust and support, and that China-Tanzania cooperation is characterized by mutual assistance and win-win outcomes.

Appreciating Tanzania's firm adherence to the one-China principle, Wang said China fully supports Tanzania in maintaining its sovereignty, independence and national dignity while pursuing a development path suited to its own national conditions.

China and Tanzania should actively promote high-quality development in bilateral cooperation, making the revitalized Tanzania-Zambia Railway a regional development engine, a bridge of friendship and a road to prosperity, continuously benefiting the people of Tanzania and other African nations, said the Chinese foreign minister.

China supports Tanzania in playing a larger role in regional and international affairs and is willing to work together with Tanzania and other developing countries to be a force for peace, stability and progress in the world, Wang said.
