An ice-and-snow festival at Shenlu Park at the foot of the Qilian Mountains in Zhangye, northwest China's Gansu Province has been attracting large crowds and energizing winter tourism.
Visitors from ethnic groups including the Yugur, Tibetan and Mongolian communities performed the traditional Tibetan Guozhuang dance together, creating a lively festive atmosphere. The scenic area was also named a national AAAA-level attraction of China, with its seasonal Ice and Snow Kingdom officially unveiled.
More than 3,000 tourists participated in winter activities such as snow tubing, ice bumper cars, snow quad biking and ice cycling, and observed performances of local intangible cultural heritage. With year-round snow, ice valleys and frozen waterfalls, the Qilian Mountains are turning rich ice-and-snow resources into a thriving winter economy by blending tourism, culture and sports.
