On January 6-8, 2026, China's Special Envoy for the Middle East, Zhai Jun, visited Israel and held separate meetings with Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, Yossi Amrani, head of the Political Affairs Directorate at the Israeli Foreign Ministry, and Joseph Draznin, deputy head of the Israeli National Security Council. The two sides held in-depth exchanges on bilateral relations.
Zhai noted that the Chinese people and the Jewish people enjoy a long tradition of friendship, and that maintaining the sound and steady development of China–Israel relations serves the fundamental interests of both peoples. China is ready to work with Israel to maintain bilateral exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation and to carry forward the friendship between the two peoples.
The Israeli side said that it attaches great importance to the development of Israel-China relations, consistently adheres to the one-China policy, and is ready to further strengthen exchanges at all levels and across departments, and promote new progress in practical cooperation in various fields.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional hotspot issues.
