The Fujian Sturgeons beat the Tianjin Pioneers 115-94 in at home in Quanzhou, southeast China's Fujian Province, on Saturday night, ending their three-game losing streak.
The hosts saw six of their players score in double digits, including 20+ points from three, Zou Yang, Travis Trice and Vladimir Brodziansky. Moreover, their bench unit outscored their Tianjin counterparts 60-8.
Two starters, Lin Ting-Chien and Javion Hamlet, contributed most of Tianjin's offensive firepower. Lin made a season-high six three-pointers to score 33 points. Hamlet had 30 points and nine assists. However, only one of their teammates, Scottie James, reached double-digit points with a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The Pioneers had a good start by leading 33-27 in the first quarter, but then they failed to reach 25 points in the following two periods and were outscored by the opponents 37-21 in the third. Their offensive efficiency continued to drop in the fourth quarter, getting only 18 points.
Having suffered their 11th defeat of the season, Tianjin remains 18th in the 20-team league.
In another battle of the night, the Guangzhou Loong Lions crushed the Sichuan Blue Whales 106-76 at home, keeping the opponents winless after 13 games.
Justin Holiday made eight of his 13 field goals to score a game-high 28 points for Guangzhou. Erik Thomas added 23 points and nine rebounds off the bench. Their side led in every quarter before clinching their seventh win of the season.
Elsewhere in Yiwu, the Zhejiang Golden Bulls defeated the Beijing Royal Fighters 89-69 to bag their third consecutive win. The Royal Fighters have lost three of their past four games and 69 points became their season-low in scoring.
