World-renowned classical guitarist Yang Xuefei and violinist Ning Feng have held a duo recital in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates. Hosted by the Chinese Embassy, running under the banner “Conversation and Connection – the Melody of Civilization,” the event aimed to promote people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

The show included the traditional Chinese classic works "Joy of Spring" and "The Butterfly Lovers.” The star guitarist and violin maestro brought Chinese culture and stories to the UAE through their mellifluous melodies, and their repertoire weaved traditional Chinese tales, blending harmonies that resonated with Emirati audiences.

Yang said she played melodies from both China and the UAE on guitar, as it is an instrument much loved in the Arab world.

Each note played by the duo reflected a bridge between civilizations, fostering mutual understanding and respect. The musicians said music plays a key role in promoting people-to-people exchanges and deepening dialogue between civilizations.

"It's very important to share our narratives, to share our opinions, our culture between both nations. And music is a powerful tool,” said Ihab Darwish, president and founder of the Emirati Musicians' Association, during an interview with CGTN. His melody "Lawlaki" was played by the duo during the recital.

Ning said she believes devoted musicians can touch any audience. By sharing these melodies, Chinese and Arab musicians are not just sharing notes, but also their history and common futures.
