During the far-sea formation mission in 2025, the People's Liberation Army Navy's Type 055 guided-missile destroyer Nanchang served as a pilot vessel and encountered multiple instances of harassment by foreign warships and aircraft. Compared with the anger felt in 2021, crew members say they now face such unwarranted provocations with greater confidence, composure and operational capability.
