Chinese films made a strong global impression in 2025, screening in 46 countries and regions and helping international audiences better understand China through cinema. In Canada, more than 10 Chinese films of different genres were shown at the country's largest cinema, drawing positive reactions from viewers.
Events like Chinese Film Week further encouraged local moviegoers to explore Chinese culture on screen. Sofia Cervantes, a student at the Vancouver Film School, said that even without having visited China, she found learning about the country through animation especially impressive. Canadian filmmaker Bruce Fontaine also noted that China's rich history and action-packed storytelling resonate with a broad audience.
