"The one-China principle is clearly reflected in the foreign policies of all 11 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states, which constitute our collective consensus, and this position has never changed, remaining consistent and unequivocal," Secretary-General of ASEAN Kao Kim Hourn said in a recent interview.

ASEAN attaches great importance to regional peace and stability, consistently advocating dialogue, diplomacy and constructive engagement, he said in an interview with Xinhua on January 12.

He said the ASEAN Charter explicitly upholds sovereignty and territorial integrity, noting that sound relations with China help foster long-term peace and stability in the region.

Amid a complex and ever-changing global landscape, ASEAN and China have sustained their momentum of cooperation, achieving steady progress across multiple domains, including trade and economy, energy, digital economy, and people-to-people exchanges, providing a crucial underpinning for regional peace, stability and prosperity, he added.
