Several NATO members are moving to deploy troops to Greenland as concerns grow over the Arctic island's security following talks in Washington about US ambitions to acquire the territory.

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Greenland's Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt spoke to the media after an hour-long meeting in Washington. Rasmussen acknowledged a "fundamental disagreement" with the United States but described the meeting as "frank but constructive."

CGTN reporter Zhu Siying asked Rasmus Gjedsso Bertelsen, professor of northern studies and holder of the Barents Chair in Politics at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, whether "frank but constructive" is diplomatic language for damage control when disagreements run deep.
