A simple plea by a woman named Daidai to help her elderly father slaughter pigs turned Qingfu Village in Hechuan District, southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, into a massive folk culture event, attracting visitors from across the country.

The viral video garnered nearly half a million likes in 48 hours, leading to a 10-kilometer traffic jam as strangers traveled to the village to join the traditional pig slaughter feast, or paozhutang, a longstanding ritual ahead of the Spring Festival across many parts of rural China.

The event evokes a collective memory of hometown warmth, gratitude for reuniting, and the shared anticipation of the New Year. This sense of tradition is truly priceless.
