China and the EU simultaneously announced positive results in the EU's anti-subsidy case concerning Chinese electric vehicles, said He Yongqian, spokesperson for Ministry of Commerce, on Thursday.

At a Thursday press conference, Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yongqian responded to questions about the EU's anti-subsidy case concerning Chinese battery electric vehicles (BEVs). He said that after rounds of discussions, China and the EU simultaneously announced positive outcomes on January 12 regarding the case, drawing domestic and international attention from various sectors.

He said the Chinese and EU industries "highly welcome and fully endorse" the outcome, believing that the "soft landing" of the electric vehicle case will significantly boost market confidence and inject new momentum into China-EU automotive trade and investment cooperation. Some EU politicians described this as a step toward establishing a sustainable China-EU trade relationship, demonstrating that partnership can still resolve trade disputes.

Regarding the current international situation, He said that China and the EU's ability to effectively resolve the EU's anti-subsidy case while upholding mutual respect and adhering to the WTO framework has significant positive implications.

The resolution not only fosters the healthy development of China-EU economic and trade relations and the stability of global automotive industrial and supply chains, but also sends a clear and powerful message to the world: China and the EU are committed to jointly upholding a rule-based international trade order, the spokesperson said. This serves as a positive example for other countries to resolve differences through dialogue and consultation, thereby injecting more certainty and positive energy into global economic development.
