The Shanghai Sharks beat the Guangdong Southern Tigers 113-73 away in Dongguan, south China's Guangdong Province, on Thursday night, giving the opponents their biggest loss of the season and the third-heaviest defeat in franchise history.
Five players of the visitors scored in double digits, led by 26 points from Kenneth Lofton Jr. off the bench. Zheng Zhenlin added 22 points. Their side made 19 three-pointers out of 35 attempts, including sinking 10 triples in the first half alone.
By contrast, Guangdong struggled on the offensive end from the beginning, missing 19 of their 20 shots from downtown in the first half. They trailed 60-34 after the first two quarters and were looking at a gap of over 50 points in the fourth quarter.
Shanghai replaced Guangdong in second in the standings after the victory.
Elsewhere in Hangzhou, the CBA leaders and defending champions Guangsha Lions extended the Sichuan Blue Whales' losing streak to 15 games with a 93-69 win at home.
Guangsha kept the opponents from reaching 20 points in each of the four quarters. Both Sun Minghui and Hu Jinqiu scored 14 points for their side to stay in solid control. The reigning CBA Finals MVP Barry Brown came back from injury and added nine points off the bench.
Having clinched their fourth consecutive win, the Lions continue to top the league with a 13-2 record.
