Responding to allegations branding China-Africa cooperation as "debt-trap diplomacy" or "new colonialism," Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, chairperson of the African Union Commission, said such narratives are detached from reality. In an exclusive interview with China Media Group (CMG), he stressed that China stepped forward to support Africa's infrastructure and development when others did not, adding that concrete projects and visible results speak louder than accusations.
"We don't believe in that. We judge from what China is doing for the continent. These actions, activities, achievements, speak for themselves," he said, underscoring that facts on the ground are the strongest rebuttal to attempts to discredit China-Africa cooperation.
