More than pyramids: Egypt courts Chinese tourists with service upgrade

China's outbound travel market is set to soar in 2026. Analysts expect Chinese mainland travelers to take up to 175 million cross-border trips this year, up from 165 million last year. Egypt is looking to ride that wave as it celebrates 70 years of diplomatic ties with China. After welcoming a record 19 million global tourists last year, the country now aims to attract 30 million visitors annually. Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority, explains the strategy to make Egypt more "user-friendly" for Chinese travelers.
