‌A rare Eurasian lynx, a national second-class protected animal, was captured on camera for the first time in Karamay city in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The lynx, with its agile physique and distinctive black tufts on ear tips, was seen alternately crouching in the snow, blinking its eyes, and strolling through the forest, showcasing its graceful movements. The Eurasian lynx is one of the apex predators in the desert-mountain ecosystem. Its first-ever appearance in Karamay has provided valuable data for ecological research in the region.
