Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Monday announced her intention to dissolve the House of Representatives on Friday and call for a snap general election on February 8. The Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan and the Komeito party will form a new party to contest the election against the ruling bloc.
