00:41

On January 20, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order withdrawing the U.S. from the World Health Organization (WHO). Two days later a formal notice was submitted to the United Nations triggering a one-year countdown to the official exit. As of January 22, 2026, the U.S. has met the procedural requirements, but the WHO emphasized that the now former member must settle $260 million in dues for 2024-25 before leaving.
