A massive winter storm swept across the United States on January 23, triggering heavy snowfall in many states. The storm is forecast to bring low temperatures, heavy snowfall, freezing rain and ice across two-thirds of the country.
So far, at least 22 states have declared a state of emergency. More than 13,000 flights across the U.S. scheduled to take off over the weekend were canceled as the storm battered large swaths of the country and threatened prolonged power outages, potentially disrupting major transportation routes.
