Venetian masks: Between concealment and expression

Once one of the richest cities on Earth, Venice shaped centuries of East–West exchange, a legacy still reflected in its symbols. At Ca' Macana, mask-maker Davide Belloni preserves the craft of hand-sculpted masks, blending historic iconography with contemporary fantasy. For centuries, masks allowed Venetians to conceal their identity and class; today, they remain a vivid expression of creativity.
