In a pleasant green space beside the sea in the southern city of Shenzhen, stands a 2.8-meter high stone. Carved with the characters "Qianhai", it is a symbol of the area's transformation from a mudflat, into a thriving economic hub. During a 2018 visit, President Xi Jinping referred to the success of the "Qianhai model" in encouraging economic growth. Across the Greater Bay Area, a national vision, technological innovation and the active participation of young people from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao are combining to promote the rise of a world-class urban cluster.
