The Beijing Ducks edged the Shanxi Loongs 87-86 on the road in Taiyuan, north China's Shanxi Province, on Monday night, after holding a 13-point advantage built in the third quarter.

Eugene German made the biggest contribution to the visitors' victory with 21 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. He also made five three-pointers out of 10 attempts. Mangok Mathiang got a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds.

On the hosts' side, Hamidou Diallo scored a game-high 23 points in addition to 10 rebounds, seven assists and two steals off the bench. His efforts kept the game alive for Shanxi until the final possession, but they failed to turn the tables in the end.

Chen Ying-Chun, Lei Peng and Victor Bailey combined for 31 points for the Ducks in the first half as their side led 50-45.

German fired from downtown in the second half and extended Beiiing's advantage to double digits. Though Diallo and Jia Mingru levelled the game twice for the Loongs in the fourth quarter, German sank his fifth triple of the night to keep the Ducks ahead in the final minute before Zhang Cairen sealed the deal with a jumper.

Beijing remains in fourth place at 13-7 while Shanxi drops to 10-10 in eighth.

In the two other contests on the night, the Beijing Royal Fighters defeated the Jilin Northeast Tigers 87-84 at home, making it into the top 10 in the standings. The Guangdong Southern Tigers beat the Tianjin Pioneers 98-89, replacing the defending champions Guangsha Lions at the top of the league.
