China stands ready to deepen cooperation in sectors including telecommunications, clean technology, special vessel building, new-type urban development, and life and health to achieve higher-level mutual benefits, Chinese Premier Li Qiang said when holding talks with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo in Beijing on Tuesday.

China is ready to further strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Finland, better leverage the complementary advantages of their economies and fully unleash the potential of bilateral trade, Li said.

China welcomes more high-quality imports from Finland and encourages its enterprises to invest in Finland, Li said, expressing hope that Finland will continue to provide a fair, just and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises.

He called on both sides to enhance cooperation in areas such as travel, language and vocational education, and youth, aiming to continuously enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

Amid rising global unilateralism and protectionism, the two countries should jointly safeguard an open and cooperative international economic and trade order, uphold multilateralism and free trade, and defend the multilateral trading system with the WTO at its core, said the Chinese premier.

Orpo said Finland is committed to continuously deepening its relations with China, expressing willingness to strengthen exchanges at various levels with China, uphold the principles of equality and mutual benefit, and deepen practical cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, as well as cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

As the current international order faces severe challenges, Finland is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China on multilateral issues such as climate change and sustainable development and safeguard free trade and the multilateral trading system, he said.

Following the talks, Li and Orpo witnessed the signing of multiple cooperation documents covering science and technology, housing and urban-rural development, customs, culture and tourism, economy and trade, and energy.
