A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated on Tuesday that Japan has no right to comment on China's Taiwan, either historically or legally, in response to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's recent remarks. Takaichi had suggested that Japan and the U.S. might coordinate actions in case of a Taiwan Strait contingency.
Spokesperson Guo Jiakun condemned Japan's comments, accusing Japan's right-wing forces of destabilizing the region and undermining China-Japan relations, and urging Japan to adhere to previous agreements and stop provoking issues related to Taiwan.
