00:52

A massive winter storm sweeping the U.S. since January 23 has claimed at least 30 lives, with deaths reported in New York, Texas, Arkansas, Massachusetts, and Kansas. In Grand Rapids, Michigan, homeless people are left vulnerable to freezing conditions as shelters remain full. One homeless woman, seeking refuge outdoors, said, "I have nowhere else to go."

As of January 26, 24 states and Washington, D.C. have declared emergencies due to the storm's widespread impact, including heavy snow, subzero temperatures and dangerous winds.
