The final two giant pandas in Japan have returned to China from Tokyo's Ueno Zoo on Wednesday morning, marking the end of over five decades of panda presence in the country.

The pair, Xiao Xiao and Lei Lei, arrived at 1 a.m. in Chengdu, in southwest China's Sichuan Province. They were later transferred to the Ya'an base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda, where they will undergo quarantine.
