No ropes, no crew: How ships dock in Qingdao Port in 30 seconds

At Qingdao Port, the largest port in northern China, ships can dock without ropes or crew on the quay. At the start of 2026, the port deployed China's first vacuum-based automated mooring system, allowing a single vessel to complete unmanned berthing within 30 seconds.
