Newly released footage has surfaced showing ICU nurse Alex Pretti in a confrontation with federal immigration agents on January 13, eleven days before he was fatally shot by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Minneapolis.
The videos show Pretti at a protest against immigration enforcement.
At one point, he can be seen kicking the taillight of a federal vehicle and then being tackled to the ground by agents.
Footage also shows what appears to be a handgun visible in his waistband, but he makes no attempt to reach for it, and it's unclear if agents saw it during the altercation.
A source confirmed the man in the videos is Pretti and said he had told his family about the incident.
The videos sparked renewed debate about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Pretti's attorney, Steve Schleicher, argued that the prior confrontation does not justify his killing at the hands of border agents on January 24.
Homeland Security Investigations is reviewing the new footage.
It remains unclear if any of the agents involved in the earlier incident were present during the fatal shooting.
