Renewable energy accounted for more than 60 percent of China's total installed power generation capacity in 2025, reflecting the country's accelerating transition toward green and low-carbon development, the National Energy Administration (NEA) announced on Friday.

China added more than 430 million kilowatts of new wind and solar power capacity over the course of last year, bringing the cumulative installed capacity of wind and photovoltaic power to over 1.8 billion kilowatts, according the NEA.

In addition, electricity generation from renewable energy sources reached approximately 4 trillion kilowatt-hours in 2025, further underscoring the growing role of clean energy in China's power supply mix.
