Rare takin seen in Xizang highlights alpine conservation gains

The takin, a species under first-class state protection has been seen in the alpine forests of Shannan in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region. Captured on camera grazing and moving calmly through dense woodland, the sighting reflects improving habitat conditions. Takins are native to high-altitude forests. There are now over 10,000 takins in China, highlighting the gains of sustained ecological protection.
