China and Uruguay have built a close and steadily growing partnership through agricultural trade, with beef and other meat products at its core. For Uruguay, beef exports are a major economic driver, contributing to around 3 percent of GDP. For China, Uruguay offers a reliable source of high-quality beef. By the end of November 2025, Uruguay's beef exports to China exceeded $860 million, marking a 14 percent year-on-year increase. China has remained Uruguay's largest trading partner for more than a decade and is also the biggest market for Uruguayan commodities.
