China's high-speed rail: Fuxing Intelligent EMU gets 'spa' treatment

The 2026 Spring Festival travel rush officially begins on February 2.

At an EMU maintenance depot under the China Railway Guangzhou Group, the Fuxing Intelligent EMU – a flagship of China's high-speed rail network – is getting a "full-body spa" before going back into service.

Each train undergoes exterior cleaning every 48 hours or after 9,900 kilometers of operation. Using a fully automated washing system with train ID recognition, remote monitoring and water-saving technology, the process now takes just five minutes, compared to more than an hour in the past.
