Four years after Beijing made history as the world's first dual-Olympic city with its 2022 Winter Games, the city is back in the global spotlight – this time as a bridge between its own impact and the upcoming 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. Running from January 24 to February 22, the "From Beijing to Milan: Together for a Shared Future" exhibition blends a Chinese New Year traditional temple fair with an international and innovative winter sports theater, turning the Beijing Olympic Museum and Bird's Nest into a lively hub that's way more than a holiday celebration – it's a vivid showcase of how Beijing's Olympic spirit is fueling Milan-Cortina's next chapter.

Nestled in the museum's underground hall, the exhibition traces the evolutionary journey of Winter Olympics, with a special focus on the cultural handover between Beijing 2022 and Milan-Cortina 2026. Through a blend of physical exhibits, immersive videos and interactive displays, visitors witness how Beijing's "green, inclusive, open and clean" Olympic philosophy has paved the way for Milan's sustainable vision. The exhibition, authorized by the International Olympic Museums Federation, underscores Beijing's role in advancing the Olympic spirit of unity and progress – a core tenet of the "Together for a Shared Future" motto.

"It's my last day in Beijing," said Jae, 26, a U.S. citizen who is in Beijing on a business trip," and it's so interesting to understand the history of Winter Olympics and see the infrastructure here and everything that made it happen."

Low-carbon initiatives, a highlight of both Beijing 2022 and Milan 2026, are seamlessly woven into the exhibition's fabric. The VR experience in the museum, "Interstellar Games VR Arena," uses energy-efficient technology to simulate a futuristic sports gala, inspiring visitors to envision an eco-friendly future for global sports.

The venue itself – the Beijing Olympic Museum – exemplifies sustainability: its connection to the Bird's Nest avoids redundant construction, optimizing resource utilization. Meanwhile, the Milan Olympic Village in Porta Romana is being developed as a "nearly zero-energy building" (NZEB) designed for full sustainability. The project prioritizes the reuse of existing structures, and after the 2026 Games, the buildings will be repurposed as student housing to minimize waste and reduce long-term environmental impact.

The exhibition also fosters cross-cultural dialogue. The Chinese New Year Painting Fair, featuring dazzling light installations and intangible cultural heritage workshops, breathes new life into traditional art forms. Visitors can find traditional Italian handicrafts and snacks as well, further strengthening the bond between the two host cities and allowing people to take home a piece of the upcoming Winter Games magic.
As the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics continues to captivate the world, the exhibition in Beijing serves as a powerful reminder of the Olympic spirit's unifying power. It demonstrates how Beijing, the world's first dual-Olympic city, acts as a catalyst for global collaboration, driving forward a shared future where sports, culture and environmental stewardship converge. This is more than a celebration; it's a promise that the Olympic flame will keep burning bright, guiding humanity toward a greener, more united tomorrow.

Meanwhile, China Media Group (CMG) is playing a pivotal role in global sports communication during this Winter Olympics. While conducting broadcasting and coverage, CMG will, for the first time in history, take on the task of producing international public signals for two Winter Olympic events: figure skating and short track speed skating. As the world's only media organization producing 8K signals for this Winter Olympics, CMG will also produce 8K public signals for four events, including the opening and closing ceremonies, figure skating and short track speed skating.
To further promote the Olympic spirit globally, CGTN has launched the original series "Champions at Home" and the "Winter Fun" video campaign, inviting netizens around the world to share their winter adventures and moments of joy. The series, which encourages global audiences to participate in recording stories of ordinary families engaging in winter sports such as skiing, ice skating and ice hockey, aims to highlight how these activities, whether in arenas or local rinks and slopes, embody key Olympic values like unity, friendship, fair play, and mutual respect. Join us and post your videos with #ChampionsatHome and #WinterFun on social media!
