Lying on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, Qinghai is rich in water, solar and wind resources. In 2016, during a visit to the province, President Xi Jinping called for establishing it as a green energy production base. By the end of 2020, the Qinghai-Henan UHV DC transmission line was supplying power to central parts of China, significantly reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Qinghai’s successful exploitation of its clean energy resources, by simultaneously promoting ecological protection and high-quality development, is being hailed as an example for the world to follow.
