Liaoning blends industrial history with travel boom

The shrill whistle of steam locomotives cuts through the crisp winter air in Diaobingshan, Liaoning Province. The International Steam Locomotive Tourism Promotion Season runs here over five days, starting in late january and extending into early February. A special tourist train, pulled by a rare US KD6-487 and China's last Shangyou-1772 steam locomotives, departs the station. Inside the carriages, retro decor, staff in nostalgia-ispired uniforms and local delicacies transport visitors back in time.

This unique steam locomotive experience turns Liaoning's industrial heritage into a cultural tourism asset, establishing it as a peak winter destination that seamlessly integrates culture and travel.
