Ukraine, U.S., Russia start the second round of trilateral talks in UAE

Delegations from Ukraine, the United States and Russia started the second round of trilateral talks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday, Ukraine's chief negotiator Rustem Umerov confirmed.

"Another round of negotiations has begun in Abu Dhabi," Umerov wrote on X. "Next comes work in separate groups by specific tracks, after which a follow-up joint synchronization of positions is planned."

The trilateral talks came after both Ukraine and Russia criticized the military actions of the other side. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday condemned Russia for breaking the U.S.-proposed "energy-truce" by launching "a record number of ballistic missiles." Alexander Bogomaz, the governor of Russia's borderline region of Bryansk, accused the Ukrainian army of carrying out a combined attack. "The combined strike involved HIMARS rockets, fixed-wing jet-powered drones and Neptune long-range missiles," Bogomaz wrote on Telegram on Wednesday.

The first round of trilateral talks was held in Abu Dhabi on January 24, with all parties concluding the result of the first direct public negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv as "constructive."
