The Cuban Institute of Meteorology reported on Tuesday that a weather station in the western province of Matanzas recorded a temperature of 0 degrees Celsius at 7:00 that morning. This marks the first time in the country's recorded history that the temperature in this tropical nation has reached the freezing point, breaking the national low-temperature record of 0.6 degrees Celsius set in February 1996.
