By Wang Zheng

The 2026 World Government Summit concluded on Thursday in Dubai. A key highlight of the event was the "New Silk Road Forum," which brought together delegates from China, Central Asia and the UAE to explore synergies in economics, innovation and industrial capacity.

Mohamed Al Sharhan, the managing director of the World Government Summit Organization, told CGTN that the New Silk Road Forum aims to highlight the vital roles played by economies across different regions under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

David Bach, the president of Swiss-based IMD, hailed the BRI as a great success, as it reaches Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, fostering big infrastructure partnerships, scientific partnerships, business partnerships and investment partnerships around the world.

A prime example is Sierra Leone. The initiative has empowered the West African nation not only through physical infrastructure but also through the development of its human capital, which was spoken highly of by the country's first minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh while speaking exclusively to CGTN. He believes that interaction at the people-to-people level will be critical for the future.

Building on the theme of human capital, Professor Nancy Ip, president of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, believes the BRI provides a unique framework for educational and technological advancement. She said her university is working together to cultivate talent, and the BRI has served as an excellent bridge. Ip noted that given Hong Kong's unique advantages, the metropolis is perfectly positioned as a "super connector."

Through the bond of the Belt and Road Initiative, China is sharing systemic solutions for growth, governance, and prosperity with the world. When grand visions take root, prosperity is no longer a distant dream.
