China on Tuesday released its "No. 1 Central Document" for 2026, setting out plans to advance agricultural and rural modernization and promote all-around rural revitalization, as the country enters the first year of its 15th Five-Year Plan, covering 2026 to 2030.

Issued annually as the first major policy statement by China's central authorities, the document is widely viewed as a key indicator of national policy priorities.

The document emphasizes safeguarding national food security, consolidating the gains made in poverty alleviation, and promoting more integrated urban-rural development. It also calls for improving living conditions in rural areas, to ensure farmers share more fully in the benefits of development.
