Indonesia has imposed a nationwide ban on elephant riding across all tourism and commercial venues, aiming to improve animal welfare and promote more responsible, observation-based wildlife tourism.
The policy, introduced under Circular Letter No. 6 in late 2025, requires attractions to end elephant riding or face penalties, including license revocation.
