Emergency services rescued residents from flooded areas in southern Spain and Portugal as Storm Leonardo brought torrential rain to the Iberian Peninsula.

More than 40 centimetres of rain fell within 24 hours, forcing thousands to evacuate their homes. At least one person was killed in Portugal, while rescue operations continue across affected areas.
