Door decorations are a common sight during Chinese New Year, adding the cheer of longstanding traditions to the celebrations.

Using ancient symbols, bright colors and drawing skills, CGTN's Séan Doherty created this door decoration on a red square of paper.

It features a cute horse holding the Chinese character "ma," meaning horse, the Chinese character "fu," a symbol of good fortune, and drawings of ancient gold coins and fireworks, representing the wishes of prosperity and festivity associated with Spring Festival.
