The morin khuur, also known as the horse-head fiddle, is a traditional Mongolian bowed string instrument. On the Bayanbulak Grassland of Xinjiang, morin khuur performer Sambuu performs Mongolian folk songs with the mountains as his audience and galloping horses as his friends. The howling wind and falling snow form its harmonies, while the rhythmic clatter of hooves sets its beat. Through a vast and soulful melody, he engages in a dialogue across time and space with his homeland.
