U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff said the delegations from the U.S., Ukraine and Russia had agreed to an exchange of 314 prisoners, which took place on Thursday. It was the first such swap in five months.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the prisoner exchange was completed with the mediation of the United Arab Emirates. Currently, the released Russian prisoners are receiving necessary psychological and medical assistance in Belarus and will later return to Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted on social media that 157 Ukrainian prisoners, including both military personnel and civilians, were released and returned to Ukraine on the same day.
